Six rescued after boat sinks off Port Dickson, Malaysia

PORT DICKSON, Malaysia: 6 men were rescued 4.5 nautical miles off the coast here after their boat sank about 1.30pm yesterday.

Kuala Linggi maritime enforcement officer Ahmad Azman Rusidi said the six, all locals, were on their way to send supplies to a trade ship, El Gurabia, when strong waves swamped their boat and sank.

They all had their life jackets on and were rescued by the crew from the trade ship.

1 injured his knee and received outpatient treatment.

The 6 men had left the jetty here at 12.30pm to send the supplies.

Sea conditions were rough at the time and the wooden boat was quickly filled with water.

Maritime officers brought the men, led by their tekong Abdul Hadi Musa, to shore about 3pm.
